Changes to Local Housing Allowance

From April 2013 the uprating of Local Housing Allowance will be set annually in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

This will bring Housing Benefit into line with the annual uprating of other benefits and the introduction of housing support within Universal Credit.

Annual uprating will mean it is easier to know what housing benefit you will be entitled to and be able to budget your finances.

All claimants will have their benefit reassessed to take into account the new LHA rates effective from each April, in line with all benefit upratings. The anniversary date will no longer be needed.

Because of this change, the Government have decided that no annual anniversary date reviews will take place during January to March 2013.
